Tobacco Cessation

Tobacco Cessation Clinic

The Tobacco Cessation Clinic helps patients stop using tobacco or patients interested in learning more. Individual counseling can help you gain perspective about nicotine addiction and help you plan to stop tobacco use.

Certified tobacco cessation counselors provide one-on-one counseling for all patients interested in quitting tobacco. Complimentary materials and cessation  tools, such as nicotine patches, lozenges, and/or gum are provided to qualifying patients at no cost. The specialist will also communicate with your physician about ordering approved prescription medications, if recommended or desired. Counselors also help patients with behavioral intervention and coping skills.

The specialist will help you develop an individualized plan to quit by quitting to know you, your tobacco usage, and your background. Patients are educated about the effects of nicotine, and provided an overview of the seven approved medications to help quit tobacco.

The initial session usually lasts about 45 minutes, and follow-up sessions are typically 15 minutes. You'll meet with a specialist weekly until you are able to stop using tobacco.
