Min Li, PhD, a researcher whose work focuses on understanding tumor formation and developing new therapies for pancreatic, brain and other cancers, is the twelfth new cancer researcher recruited to the Stephenson Cancer Center in the past year and one of nine with NCI funding. The Cancer Center is working to bring at least 20 new NCI-funded researchers to Oklahoma. Li will be named to the Virginia Kerley Cade Endowed Chair in Cancer Treatment and will hold an appointment as professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, pending approval by the OU Board of Regents.

When David Jones, PhD, joined OMRF last summer to lead its cancer research efforts, his aim was to expand the program by recruiting successful scientists from other institutions to Oklahoma City. With the addition of Alana Welm, PhD. and Bryan Welm, PhD, OMRF has taken a big first step toward achieving this goal.
