Patients with known or suspected bladder cancer will now have access to improved diagnostic tools at the Stephenson Cancer Center through a new technology that uses blue light rather than the standard white light.  White light cystoscopy has been the gold standard for visualizing suspicious lesions for certain bladder tumors. However, when used on its own, harder-to-see tumors can often be missed. The blue light technology works by exploiting fluorescent properties of naturally occurring molecules in malignant tissues.
