Researchers at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center hope to shed new light on breast cancer treatment with fewer side effects. They have developed an innovative treatment strategy that utilizes photodynamic therapy and site-specific chemotherapy to precisely target breast cancer tumors in an effort to maximize the therapeutic efficacy and to minimize the body’s exposure to chemotherapeutic drugs.

A dietitian specializing in oncology nutrition and nutrition support recently joined the staff of Stephenson Cancer Center, where she will serve as a clinical registered dietitian. Samantha Stricker-Hussey, RD, will provide nutritional services as part of Stephenson Cancer Center’s Supportive Care Program at the center’s Shirley Bowman Nutrition Clinic. Among the oncology patient services she will provide are nutritional assessment and follow-up; medical nutrition therapy and education; and tube feeding training, as well as educational classes for both patients and staff.
