Research Training and Opportunities

Various laboratories in the CCPDD offer research experience and training opportunities to postdoctoral and clinical fellows, residents and students ranging from high school through graduate levels. Projects range from short-term summer research opportunities, to graduate student theses and dissertations, to postdoctoral fellow training.

Mentoring of research faculty in design of experiments and grant writing also is provided.

The research program offers various focus areas, such as precancerous biology, chemoprevention, and risk factors of tumor development; molecularly-targeted drug discovery and development; biomarker identification and validation, tumor vaccine development; and clinical translational research. The program allows students and fellows to experience a multidisciplinary translational cancer research environment. The ultimate goal is to prepare trainees for successful careers as independent and productive scholars in cancer research fields.
