Resources and Facilities

The goal of our research is to understand and develop the strategies to prevent benign tumors before they can become cancerous. The focus of the Center for Cancer Prevention and Drug Development is to understand the risk factors and to develop well-tolerated risk reduction strategies in preclinical models for clinical applications. Primary cancer prevention clinical trials focus especially on individuals at high risk for developing cancer. Secondary cancer prevention clinical trials focus on reducing tumor recurrence in cancer patients.

The center has a unique combination of molecular and cellular biologists, pharmacologists, pathologists, veterinary scientists, immunologists, nutritionists, natural product and medicinal chemists, and clinicians who are well experienced in translational research trials. This multidisciplinary team of experts facilitates the identification of risk factors and drug targets, the development of prevention strategies, and the establishment of successful clinical trials

Research Focus

The Center for Cancer Prevention and Drug Develeopment has several areas of research focus, including:

Environmental Risk Factors and Pre-Cancerous Biology
Cancer Preventive Drug Development
Cancer Immunoprevention
Early Detection: Diagnosis / Biomarkers
