Carl R. Bogardus, Jr, MD

Dr. Carl Bogardus joined the faculty of the University of Oklahoma in 1964, and continues in the active practice of radiation oncology today. He was responsible for starting the residency program in radiation therapy in 1966, a program which is considered one of the premier residencies in the country today. He was responsible for developing the clinical radiation oncology program at the University of Oklahoma, and its move into the Stephenson Cancer Center, where it is now considered one of the top clinical radiation oncology programs nationwide.

Dr. Bogardus is board certified in therapeutic radiology [radiation oncology] and nuclear medicine. He has served as a national board examiner in both of these programs. He has authored numerous scientific articles, books and book chapters, and is considered the national expert on compliance and documentation for radiation oncology, an area in which he continues to regularly lecture on a national schedule. He is the principal software architect of the nationally recognized electronic health record for radiation oncology, Oncochart.

Dr. Bogardus has served in countless national leadership positions over the last 40 years including president and member of the board of chancellors of the American College of Radiology, president and chairman of the board of directors of the American Society of Radiation Oncology, and has held numerous other offices and committee and commission chairmanships over the years in these national organizations.
