Radiation Therapy 101


Radiation Therapy 101 is a workshop designed to help patients and caregivers preparing for radiation therapy treatment at the Stephenson Cancer Center. You will have an opportunity to learn what to expect during your radiation therapy treatment while receiving individualized attention from treatment providers leading the class.

The workshop is offered every Thursday at 4:30 pm, and the class takes approximately 30-minutes. Family and friends are encouraged to attend so they can learn how to support you during treatments.

*Pre-registration is required

The class will also cover complimentary services and programs available to patients at the cancer center. Additional topics covered include:

What is radiation therapy?
How is it used to treat cancer?
How can I prepare for treatment? 
What can I expect on my first visit?
What side effects can I expect?
What should I wear to treatment?
How can I contact the Radiation Therapy Center?

The mission of the Supportive Care Program at the Stephenson Cancer Center is to restore and maintain the quality of life for people living with cancer and their families through the interdisciplinary delivery of expert symptom management, palliative care, health promotion and prevention interventions for the person diagnosed with cancer.
